PROJECTS

Environmental and Social Assessmentsfor Hydropower and Solar PV Projects under the Lebanon Renewable Energy and System Reinforcement Project (World Bank-Funded)

In 2024, SES was subcontracted by ER2M LLC to support the Lebanon Renewable Energy and System Reinforcement Project, funded by the World Bank. The scope of work included the preparation of Environmental and Social (E&S) assessment studies for the rehabilitation of three existing hydropower plants (HPPs) on the Litani River, as well as an E&S screening report for five prospective solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant sites in the Baalbek-Hermel Governorate. All deliverables were developed in alignment with the World Bank’s 2018 Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) and its associated Environmental and Social Standards (ESSs), ensuring international best practices in environmental sustainability, social risk management, and stakeholder inclusion.

SES also supported the preparation of the project-wide Labor Management Plan (LMP) and contributed to stakeholder engagement activities, including the design and facilitation of scoping consultations.
